First Aid Responder Refresher

Course details

This course aims to produce highly confident First Aiders with the skills and knowledge to provide care until arrival of emergency services. The course is focused on practical skills and scenario training and is backed up with theory sessions to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding. This course: 

  • is a replacement for Occupational First Aid
  • is recognised by Health and Safety Authority from 1st November 2016
  • meets all the requirements of the current Health and  Safety Standards and requirements for employee training
  • develops a preventative approach to accidents and incidents within the workplace

Course objectives:

On completion of the First Aid Responder course participants will be able to:  

  • demonstrate up-to-date practical skills
  • explain new developments in First Aid

      Course content

      • Cardiac emergencies- incident management
      • Patient assessment
      • Injury management and shock
      • Care of an unconscious patient
      • Burns and electrical injuries
      • Poisonings
      • Common medical emergencies
      • Adult C.P.R. and AED
      • Infant C.P.R and AED

      Pre-course requirements

      Your First Aid Responder Certificate is required to provide proof of certification plus proof of last date of assessment. Please note that the burden of proof is on the learner and may affect certification of training.

      Duration: 2 Days

      Participation: Maximum of 8 participants to 1 Instructor

      Certification: 2 Year certification of Competence, recognised by Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council, following successful assessments.
